The arm lift, or Brachioplasty, is a procedure very often performed with body contouring, but is also a common surgical procedure performed by itself. The upper arm lift corrects sagging skin found in the upper arm, often referred to as “bat wings.” The upper arms is one of the areas that, as we age or lose weight, likes to hold onto stubborn fat. Upper arms can also be a very tricky area of the body to tone, and exercise may not produce the attractive arm look you are wanting. An arm lift can help you feel more at ease when wearing sleeveless tops or bathing suits, which are commonly worn in sunny Southern California.
In some instances, when there is just a small amount of undesired fat in the arm, Dr. John Park will recommend just liposuction of the affected areas. However, if there is accompanying sagging skin, especially after significant weight loss, the only way to produce the desired results you are looking for is by performing brachioplasty, in which an incision is made down the back of the arm and the excess skin and fat are removed. The underlying supportive tissue may also be tightened and reshaped with internal sutures.
At your consultation with Dr. John Park, he will discuss with you your overall aesthetic goals and surgical plan to achieve those goals. Your recovery time will vary depending on the procedure or if combined with other body contouring procedures such as:
