There are different ways our faces can age. In addition to wrinkles and gravity, volume loss to the face is an important component contributing to the appearance of an aged face, making it look tired and deflated. To restore volume, some patients prefer the use of office-based fillers. Other patients prefer the idea of using their own fat. Dr. John Park can discuss with you the pros and cons of each approach and which he would recommend to restore the youthful and full appearance of the look that you once had.
By combining liposuction and fat grafting, Dr. Park will be able to not only contour and shape parts of your body that are storing unwanted fat, but also then use the unwanted fat to fill out the appearance of localized areas such as cheekbones, deep facial wrinkles and lines, or even the hollow areas of sunken eyes. Once the fat has been removed with liposuction from areas such as hips or thighs, it is then purified, and only the most viable fat cells are then used for injection back into the hollow areas of the face.
Facial fat grafting is becoming more and more popular as the procedure itself is minimally invasive and does not require any surgical incisions or leave any type of scarring. Adding fat, or volume back into the face can help improve the skin texture and help it to appear more tight and radiant.
Recovery time is relatively quick at about two weeks. Pressure should not be put on the face in order to best enable the transferred fat cells to survive. Swelling may occur and can vary with individuals. Dr. John Park will discuss the options and individualized plan that suits your desired outcome during your consultation.
