SculpSure and CoolSculpting – Which One Is The Best Fat Buster

It’s a fair question and people ask it all of the time, “Is SculpSure the same as CoolSculpting?” While CoolSculpting is a great technology, it’s become an old technology. Cryolipolysis, or freezing fat cells, has been around for many years and many people have benefitted from the technology. However, hyperthermic laser fat reduction (SculpSure) has been FDA approved since 2014. And, like many new technologies, SculpSure offers benefits that patients may want.

Comfort, Adverse Effects, and Treatment Time are three of the biggest concerns when undergoing any fat reduction treatment.

It’s no different with Sculpture and Coolsculpting. We all want it to be pain-free, we definitely don’t want to experience any problems with the treatment, and we don’t want to spend a lot of time getting it done. Let’s see how the two technologies measure up:

Treatment Time: Although CoolSculpting has recently released their Z-wave technology to compete with SculpSure’s 25-minute treatment time, Z-wave is still 10 minutes longer. Additionally, the required uncomfortable massaging of the treated area after treatment makes the treatment time more than 40 minutes.

Additionally, because CoolSculpting can only treat a single area of the body at one time, your body sculpting treatment time will be considerably longer.

Adverse Effects: Coolsculpting can have adverse effects from treatment including numbness and tingling of skin for several weeks after treatment. Both SculpSure and CoolSculpting patients can experience some bruising.

Comfort: CoolSculpting’s suction based applicators are quite uncomfortable and can cause a shelving effect in the treated area. In other words, if it doesn’t suck in your fat, it doesn’t kill your fat. Consequently, the natural fat continues to grow, which creates a small shelf. SculpSure’s plate applicators feather out the heat in the treated area and create a smooth effect. The suction applicator freezes the fat, which then needs to be massaged back into shape. This suction feeling is not comfortable for some people.
