4 Things You Can Still Do After Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation enhances the size and shape of your breast with implants, and many patients are pleasantly surprised to find out just how quickly they will heal.

At John Park MD Plastic Surgery, most patients can resume the majority of their daily activities just two weeks after surgery and are completely back to their normal lives at six weeks. If you’ve been thinking about breast augmentation, you’ve probably wondered what will change—besides more confidence and a brand new wardrobe.

Once you’ve healed from breast augmentation surgery, there’s virtually nothing you can’t do, such as:

  1. Sleep on your stomach. Yes, if you’re a tummy sleeper, you’ll be able to resume your favorite sleeping position after breast augmentation surgery. Like any surgery, there’s a recovery period, and for a few weeks post-op, you’ll modify your sleeping position a little. However, soon enough you’ll be able to get back on your belly.
  2. Work out. No work out is off-limits for women with breast augmentations. You might find that you’ll have to go shopping for new sports bras, but that’s part of the fun of this cosmetic procedure. From yoga to boxing and running, you can get back into your workout routine a few weeks after surgery.
  3. Go without a bra. For a lot of women, breast augmentation gives them the confidence and support they need to go without a bra for the first time in their adult lives. One of the biggest “perks” of breast augmentation is the enhanced, youthful shape. This means you can wear the dresses with the plunging necklines or backless blouses you love with confidence. If you’ve depended on tape or stick-on bras in the past for these outfits, breast augmentation will give you the boost you want to rock these clothes without any extra support.
  4. Breastfeed. In the vast majority of cases, women with breast augmentation can produce milk and breastfeed. If this is a concern for you, Dr. Park is happy to discuss future-planning during your consultation and appointment.
