15 Sep Increased Breast Implant Size Is Gaining Popularity
Many people ask how big is too big for breast implants? Over time, surgeons are seeing that women are gradually increasing their breast size during breast augmentation. Back about 20 years ago, it was rare for patients to go much above a 300 cc implant or even into the 400 range. However, today, we rarely use an implant with less than 300 cc, and it is common to use implants in the 400’s. In addition, it isn’t that rare anymore for patients to opt for 500cc or slightly more.
There likely isn’t any one single thing driving the escalation of breast implant size during breast augmentation. During a recent study it has been noted that many women are being advised by their friends, who have had breast augmentation prior to them, to go a little bigger in size, so that they will not be disappointed. Many women share that they feel after having had the surgery that they would go bigger if they were to do it over – even though some of these women are now wearing a D cup after surgery.
Another reason that breast size could be increasing is that expectations and desires can change and some women may go larger initially in anticipation that they won’t be going big enough.
A big contributing factor is what people, or society feels is an attractive style and shape.
It is more common nowadays to find models who have larger breast sizes. Particularly swimsuit models. It just seems that bigger breasts are “in.” Therefore, because of this perception, women tend to want larger implants.
Probably the most important factor in size determination is that women have much more say in the size of breast implants chosen that they did previously. Women play a much more active role in the way their bodies look and are able to try on different implants and see for themselves the look they would like to obtain.
