20 Aug Tips on Getting a Good Night’s Rest Following a Breast Lift
It can be challenging to get a good night’s rest following any plastic surgery, this includes a breast lift, which might seem minor in comparison to other major surgeries. If you’re a stomach sleeper, that is out of the question for some time after breast surgery. You don’t want to do anything that might jeopardize your results or cause induced pain and sleeping on your stomach will do just that. There are, however, a few things you can do that can help you get the much-needed rest you need for a successful recovery and optimum results.
Wear Your Support Bra
Yes, you need to do this regardless if you’re sleeping or not, but by wearing your support garment it helps control swelling through compression, and it offers support to your newly formed breasts. Most compression garments are made with a comfortable material, so they’re not stiff and uncomfortable like a regular bra.
Allow For Proper Elevation
Sleeping with two or three pillows under your head and under your back can give you elevation to help relieve pressure from the breasts. You can even put some pillows under your shoulders to position you in a more upright state. Elevating your upper body by 30 or 40 degrees is ideal. Your breast tissue will be swollen and inflamed, so if you’re able to take away any unnecessary pressure off of the breasts, it will definitely minimize any induced swelling or pain. Elevation should also help with your mobility and make it easier to get up out of bed and back into it comfortably.
Utilize Pillows to Maintain Proper Positions
Whether you’re sleeping on your side or your back, it’s a good idea to use pillows to keep you positioned correctly through the night. If you’re sleeping on your back, you can place a pillow under your knees or around your side to keep you in place. If you prefer to sleep on your side, use a pillow to support your upper arm. This also helps to reduce a little bit of pressure and makes it more comfortable throughout the night.
